Kafah Bachari is a short story writer, essayist, and aspiring novelist. Her writing focuses on issues of memory, myth, identity, religion, and history within Iran and the Iranian American diaspora. Kafah is currently working on her first novel, Azadistan, which follows the lives and fractured memories of a Baha’i family from Tehran. Her stories and essays have appeared in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, and elsewhere. Kafah lives in Pearland, Texas with her husband, two sons, and their dogs.
